It was an afternoon in late May, and as it is sometimes wont to do in the ever Alpine climate of Lake Tahoe, it was threatening to snow. Never one to lose spirit, our chipper bride Karmen and her closest girl friends prepared for the biggest day of her life thus far. Her Champaign Antonio Melani pumps with their prim bows sat gracefully atop their crisp box; while her lace sweetheart fit-and-flair with it’s large silk floral belt was hung to air. Her makeup was artfully done – subtle and romantic, and hair swept in to a tasteful up-do. Not one for tame colors, Karmen outfitted her bridesmaids in short black lace dresses and black and cream pumps, accented with pops of hot pink. As a thank-you to her wedding party, Karmen gifted each of the girls a hot pink silk robe.
Meanwhile, Chun and his groomsmen slipped in to their traditional black suits, and their not-so-traditional black vinyl high-top Converse. Like the ladies, their ensemble was accented by a hot pink pop of color in the form of a rose boutonniere. The group was in high spirits as they toasted to the happiness and longevity of the soon-to-be marriage.
Karmen had carefully planned every detail of the day, spending hours scanning Pinterest for inspiration, and she was excited for her loved ones to witness the fruits of her labor. Prior to the ceremony, the photographers slipped in to the reception space at The Chateau Incline to capture the expertly crafted details of the space. Tables were filled with decadent desserts: chocolate éclairs, small cupcakes with chocolate and cream frosting, mini pies with berries and citrus, and mounds of dark-chocolate covered strawberries drizzled with fine strands of white chocolate. The bride and groom share a love for children, and they had thoughtfully created a space where the kids could color and play. But perhaps the most impressive aspect of the room was the ornate wedding cake; three tiers of fondant roses and pearls, accented by ribbons of hot pink silk and rhinestone bands. The room was everything Karmen had promised it would be.
The ceremony began under a stormy sky, small flakes of snow flurrying around the guests as the sat atop proper white chairs on the expansive lawn of The Chateau. Hot pink rose Pomander balls tied with black silk lined the aisle as Karmen made her way to her anxiously excited groom. Chun’s face radiated happiness as he glimpsed the love of his life as she made her way toward the start of their new life together. The couple exchanged vows as the clouds rolled darkly across the expansive Sierra sky.
The kind-hearted couple and their closest friends were elated after the ceremony, which made posing for photographs in the ever-increasing cold a breeze. Karmen and Chun were whisked away to the shoreline of the lake. As the teal, choppy water of Lake Tahoe raged against the rocks, the couple promenaded serenely – never ones to let weather damper their joy. They danced the night away, enjoying the celebrations long after nightfall.
